About
Anyone at any level who is planning to show a dog in the conformation ring should definitely take advantage of this class. Beginners who have never been in the ring before will learn what to expect when they head off to that first show–how to enter the ring, how to move with their dog, how to keep the dog steady so the judge can examine it, how to get their dog into that perfect stack, what they should be doing while the judge is examining the other dogs, etc.
We offer private lessons and group classes using science-backed positive reinforcement training techniques that will help you and your dog learn the skills necessary to be confident in the show ring.

Booking Policy
At time of booking is when you text us or email or book through our website. Payment is required to book and hold reservations. Nothing is confirmed until paid in full. For Holiday booking, payment must be paid at time of contact with us to reserve your pet sitting. If a Holiday booking is not paid within 24 hours, a 10% late booking fee will apply. If not paid, We will remove the reservation, so another client can book and pay.
Upon Arrival
- Bring copy of vaccination record (Must include 4 boosters)
- Dog’s food to last 4-6 weeks (Chewy.com deliveries will be acceptable)
- 50% of training cost is due at drop off
Copy of dog’s registration papers (not mandatory) - Pick ups/drop off’s scheduled OUTSIDE of BUSINESS HOURS on WEEKDAYS will be charged an additional $50 for the trainers attending. Pick ups/drop off’s on WEEKENDS will be charged additional $100

Do I get to choose the package I want for my dog?
Short answer, no. We encourage our clients to let our certified staff guide them to the service package that is right for their dog.
Are you going to hurt my dog while training?
Not at all! Our proprietary gentle and balanced training method uses the least restrictive environment possible. Our method balances reward and gentle consequence to its best advantage to achieve optimal results you can trust! We create dogs that are excited to work for you, rather than scared not to
Are your trainers certified?
Yes! At La Fundación K-9 Academy we ensure that all of our trainers are certified in-house to the highest industry standard for pet dog trainers. In fact, our owner/lead trainer, Richard, has even facilitated training for groomers, shelter staff, veterinary staff, animal control officers, and other industry professionals. Rest assured, your dog is in safe, certified hands with us!

How old must my puppy be to begin training?
We have found that training is most effective when a puppy has had a little time to mature as well as ample time to bond with their new family. This consideration takes care of itself in private in-home training. Listed below is the earliest age for a pup to start each of these packages:
- Star Puppy 12 weeks
- Basic Obedience 5 months
- Advanced Obedience 7 months
- Personal Protection (age varies)
Will I get updates while my dog is away?
Yes! La Fundación K-9 Academy's trainers are expert communicators and pride themselves on keeping you in the loop! Expect to receive regular video and picture updates, at most every 4 days along the way!
